Frequently Asked Questions
-
What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session is a chance to get comfortable—feel free to bring a warm cup of coffee or tea if that helps ease any nerves. Together with your therapist, you’ll spend the time getting to know one another, exploring what brought you to therapy, and discussing your goals and expectations for the process. You’ll also talk about what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past so therapy can be shaped around your needs. We encourage you to bring any questions you may have, and your therapist will be happy to answer them during your session.
-
How do I book an appointment?
Simply click “Book Now” and follow the steps to create a Jane account. From there, you can choose your therapist and select the date and time that works best for you.
-
Are virtual sessions offered?
Yes. At this time, all sessions are offered by telehealth. You must be physically located in British Columbia, as our providers are licensed here. Sessions require a stable internet connection, a private space, and a device with a camera and microphone. If technical issues occur, we may continue by phone or reschedule.
-
What does “informed consent” mean?
By starting services, you agree that you understand the purpose of counselling/therapy. You have the right to ask questions, explore treatment options, and give or withdraw consent at any time. Participation is voluntary, and you may pause or stop services without penalty.
-
How confidential is the information I share?
Everything you share in sessions, and your records, are kept private and secure in line with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). We will only release information with your written consent, unless required by law.
-
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Missed or late-cancelled sessions are billed in full and not covered by insurance. Exceptions may be made for emergencies or sudden illness. Repeated missed sessions may result in services being discontinued.

Clinic policies are violated
Your needs fall outside our scope of practice
If therapy ends, we will do our best to provide you with referrals.
-
Can these policies change?
Yes. Policies may be updated, but clients will always receive at least 30 days’ notice of any changes.
